Sclerotherapy
Spider veins are those tiny purple and red blood vessels found most commonly on women's thighs or lower legs, and occasionally on the face. Varicose veins are larger, appearing raised with a bluish color and can become quite painful.
Sclerotherapy has been an effective treatment for spider veins and varicose veins for over 50 years. During the treatment, the sclerosing solution is injected into the targeted area to cause the vein to blanch (turn white), then gradually disappear.
The Benefits
- Suitable for women of all ages
- Dramatic improvement
- Non-surgical with minimal discomfort
- Safely restores natural skin color
Sclerotherapy Procedure
Prior to treatment, we will review your complete medical history to determine how long you have had a problem with your veins and the severity. If sclerotherapy is right for you, we will create a treatment plan for the optimal result.
A typical sclerotherapy session takes about 30 minutes. Sclerosing agent is injected into the affected veins, approximately one injection administered for every inch of spider vein. After treatment, you may be asked to wear special heavy-duty stockings to keep pressure on the veins. This will reduce bruising and help keep the treated veins closed. Bruises around the treated areas usually disappear after the first week. Additional treatments may be needed and your final results may not be apparent for several months. Most women experience 60% to 80% improvement. Call us for a free personalized consultation to see if sclerotherapy is right for you.
